Staff Development

Dr. Chris Moersch offers staff development and LoTi Certification for educational Professionals through the Great Expectations with LoTi™ program. A LoTi Certified Professional represents a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, or building/district level administrator who has completed the LoTi Professional Teacher Institute or LoTi Professional Administrator Institute. A LoTi Certified Mentor represents an educational professional who has completed the LoTi Mentor Certification Institute. These staff development opportunities concentrate on modeling state-of-the-art assessment strategies, observation techniques, and instructional models using a wide variety of technology.

The Great Expectations with LoTi program has four strategic stages: Assess, Plan, Implement, and Sustain.

LoTi Professional Teacher Institute
The Great Expectations with LoTi Teacher Institute is designed to help educators develop the skills necessary to implement a standards-driven, technology-rich learning environment. The emphasis is on the processes underlying experiential learning as well as skill development in the area of technology integration, standards-based instruction, and performance-based assessment. Four overall goals of the institute are: 1) to develop a strategy for implementing the tenets from state and/or national standards, 2) to become familiar with the linkage between standards-based teaching and learning and the experiential-based action model, 3) to recognize the uses of the computer as a transparent tool, and 4) to become an advocate for "high-level" technology integration in the classroom.

LoTi Professional Administrator Institute
The Great Expectations with LoTi Administrator Institute is designed to help participants acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to move their school system to the "Target Technology" level. Three overall goals of the institute are: (1) to create an "instruction and assessment" infrastructure to complement the existing hardware infrastructure , (2) to promote higher levels of technology implementation modeled at the operational curriculum level, and (3) to provide a data-driven approach to instructional technology planning at the building, district, and regional levels.

LoTi Mentor Certification Institute
The LoTi Mentor Certification Institute is designed to provide participants with the skills, strategies, and resources necessary to move their school building or school district to a higher level of technology implementation as well as improve student achievement. The emphasis is on the processes underlying powerful teaching and learning as well as skill development in the area of planning effective staff development at the "Target Technology" levels, conducting clinical observations, and delivering efficient and differentiated instructional technology professional development to staff. Five goals on the institute are: (1) to improve student achievement based on NCLB requirements, (2) to refine the technology implementation strategies used with staff, (3) to promote higher levels of technology implementation in the classroom, (4) to create an effective bridge between instruction assessment, and technology use, and (5) to provide a data-driven approach to instructional technology professional development planning and implementation at the building and district levels.
